Why A Logo Change?
A Bit of My Art Business History
In 2014 I had the opportunity to take a “She Art” class taught by Christy Thomlinson. This was the beginning of my exposure to Mixed Media Art. The second piece I created during this time became my logo and while it has changed minutely through the years, essentially it was the same for the last 10 years.
Why I’m Changing My Logo After So Many Years
I’ve known for a while that this change needed to happen. I admit it took a few events to occur to make me realize that it was time and after years of proudly displaying my logo, a symbol that’s become synonymous with my brand, I’ve decided at last that it’s time for a change. This decision wasn’t made lightly, but it reflects the evolution of my art, my small business, my vision, and the need to stay relevant in an ever-changing landscape and what a better way than to use a piece of my own artwork. Here’s why I’m making this shift.
Reflecting Growth and Evolution
My current logo has served me well, representing the early stages of my brand’s journey. However, just as my small art business has grown, so have my ambitions. The new logo will better capture the essence of where my brand is today and where it’s headed. It’s a reflection of the progress made and the exciting future that lies ahead.
Aligning with Modern Aesthetics
Design trends change over time, and what once felt fresh and innovative can start to feel outdated. My old logo, while nostalgic, no longer aligns with the direction my art has moved. The new design represents who I am as an abstract mixed media artist and the direction I’m moving. It is more versatile, and better suited to the digital platforms that are now crucial to my small business.
Reinforcing Brand Identity
A logo is more than just an image; it’s a visual representation of a brand’s identity. As my brand has matured, so has its identity. The new logo reinforces this evolved identity, conveying the values and message that are at the core of my small art business. It’s about ensuring that every element of my brand, from the products to the visuals, tells a cohesive story.
Enhancing Versatility and Connection
Today, logos need to be adaptable across various mediums—from social media icons to packaging to large-scale signage. My old logo, while beloved, was not designed with this level of versatility in mind. The new logos are more flexible, ensuring they look great no matter where they are being used for.
As my brand continues to grow, I’m reaching new audiences who may not have the same connection to the old logo as my long-time customers. A new brand offers a fresh start and an opportunity to connect with this new audience, while still honoring the brand’s legacy.
Looking Forward
While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to a logo that has been such an integral part of my brand’s journey, I’m excited about the future. This change is a positive step forward, one that will help my brand continue to thrive and resonate with both new and existing customers. The new logo is more than just a visual update—it’s a symbol of growth, evolution, and the exciting road ahead. Thank you for being on this journey with me.
